1. Why did you name your work Daniela Monaco?
I got nickname “Monaco” right after i moved to Maui (10 years ago) for wearing a blue turquoise headband in my hair, and it stuck with me.
I like it. It reminds me of Europe, and it’s easy to remember it, so I didn’t have to think too hard to name my creations.
2. What is the main concept/theme of your work?
The concept and main theme of my work is an inspiration from nature. Nature is an bottomless ocean of ideas. The different forms, shapes, textures, colors and varieties of flowers, trees, animals, and other forms of life is an inexhaustible source of creative ideas. The only thing you have to do is to keep your eyes open and look around.
3. What would you hope for kira kira life customers when they put your jewelry on?
To feel joyful, spiritual, unique, empowered, elegant, and feminine… To attain your own kind of beauty.
4. What is your favorite quote?
There are many, but ”There is no ordinary moment” is what I constantly feel and every day…
5. What do you do when you're feeling low?
I remind myself how very lucky I am to be living my life - being healthy, having an amazing husband and family… What more can I ask? If I feel really low on my fuel of happiness, I recharge my batteries at my secret spot on one particular beach or go to Haleakala. Also listening to silence, writing my thoughts in my diary, or calling my mom helps ;o))) (But I do all of these things on regular basis even if I was not feeling low.)
